Calmer Choice serves children and those who support them on Cape Cod and surrounding regions by providing evidence-based mindfulness education, training and mentorship to build resilience, foster compassion and nurture the wellbeing of all people and communities. Utilizing our evidence-based curriculum and a trauma-informed delivery approach, we work in classrooms and community spaces to support individuals in reconnecting with the inner capacities they need to feel grounded, resourced, and capable of leading lives of kindness and compassion towards themselves and others.
The Volunteer Coordinator (VC) plays a key role in allowing the organization to grow and expand its impact in the community. The VC leads the coordination of volunteer recruitment, screening, training, and assignments for all Calmer Choice (CC) volunteers. This role involves monitoring volunteer programs and coordinating volunteer activities across all programs where volunteers are assigned. This position requires excellent organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and a passion for supporting volunteer engagement within the organization while also supporting the organization at large to design and deliver a shared vision of clear and impactful programming services to achieve our mission.
Under the direction of the Development Committee Chair (DCC), responsibilities include the following:
Develop and implement strategies to recruit volunteers for various CC programs; Engage with the community to attract new volunteers through outreach and networking.
Conduct interviews and reference checks for potential volunteers. Organize and lead orientation sessions and training programs to prepare volunteers for their roles.
Match volunteers with appropriate programs and tasks based on their skills and interests. Coordinate volunteer schedules and assignments across all CC programs. Monitor volunteer activities and provide ongoing support and guidance.
Track volunteer hours and maintain accurate records of volunteer contributions. Evaluate the effectiveness of volunteer programs and suggest improvements.
Plan and execute an annual volunteer recognition event to celebrate volunteer achievements. Develop and distribute recognition materials (certificates, awards) to honor volunteer contributions.
Act as the primary point of contact for all volunteer-related inquiries and concerns. Collaborate with Development Committee to identify volunteer needs and ensure smooth integration into programs.
Prepare regular reports on volunteer activities, participation, and program outcomes. Maintain an up-to-date volunteer database and documentation for compliance and reference.
Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, schools, and businesses to support volunteer recruitment and partnerships.
