Come practice with us!

Resilience is not something we are born with but is instead something we cultivate throughout our lives.

Informed by our experience through tragedy and triumph, resilience is the thread in the fabric of our human existence.

Join us for a weekend retreat exploring our inner capacity for resilience that heals and nurtures.

“Life doesn’t get easier or more forgiving, we get stronger and more resilient.”
― Steve Maraboli, Life, the Truth, and Being Free

Retreat Details:

What: A Silent Mindfulness Retreat

When: Friday Dec. 13th thru Sun. Dec. 15th, 2024

Where: Craigville Retreat Center (Centerville, MA)

Retreat Ticket Pricing:

To make this retreat experience as accessible as possible, we are offering a sliding-scale. Please select the price that best represents your experience based on the descriptions below:

  • $350 Supported: Intended particularly for Cape-based public-school educators, those who are underrepresented in the mindfulness practice space including BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), and low-income parents.
  • $425 Sustainer: Register at this rate if you are an employed individual working outside of the public school system. This rate reflects the true cost of delivering this retreat for Calmer Choice.
  • $500 Supporter: This rate is for the more established professional who has access to a surplus of resources. By selecting this rate, you are allowing Calmer Choice to offer more financial accessibility across our programming.

Who Should Attend:

This retreat is open to any adult (18+) interested in strengthening their personal mindfulness practice. The program will be suitable for all levels of practice experience and basic introductions to all practices will be included throughout; however, comfort with sitting for periods of time (up to 45 minutes), as well as extended experiences of silence will be helpful.

We particularly welcome all educators, parents, and those working directly with children.

What to Expect:

The retreat will run from 5:30pm on Friday through 11:30am on Sunday. The retreat will be facilitated by Calmer Choice staff and guest practitioners and include a variety of activities grounded in our shared evidence-based practice. You will have the opportunity to experience both formal (sitting) and informal (walking, eating, sharing, etc.) mindfulness practices intended to help you in slowing down and reconnecting with your inner sense of wellbeing.

Cushions and back jacks will be available or you are welcome to bring your own. Chairs will be provided for those who prefer sitting in a chair.

To maximize the benefit of your mindfulness practice at this retreat, we suggest that you use electronic devices only when absolutely necessary and always in a mindful and discreet way, especially respecting the calm and quiet of the rooms, practice spaces, and dining hall. This practice will help all of us to release our busyness and to really rest.

Please let your loved ones know that you will be on retreat.

The Gift of Silence:

We will be experiencing the practice of Mindful Silence for this retreat together. During Mindful Silence, we quiet our conversations and thoughts to generate the energy of mindfulness and help the activity of the day settle and process.

Mindfulness Practices:

  • Formal Sitting Practice
  • Mindful Walking
  • Mindful Eating
  • Mindful Movement
  • Deep Listening/Speaking
  • Sound Healing

Lodging:

The entire retreat will occur at the Craigville Inn of the Craigville Retreat Center. Accommodations are simple private rooms with shared bathrooms in old Cape Cod style. Some rooms are on the 2nd floor and require navigating stairs. Bring your own linens, pillows, and towel.

All meals will be shared in the dining hall. Efforts will be made to accommodate basic dietary restrictions. If you have concerns about this, please reach out to us prior to registering (info@calmerchoice.org).

Registration & Attendance:

Space is limited, and advance registration is required. Please plan on attending the entire retreat. Last day to cancel for a refund is after November 29th.
