What does ‘trauma-informed’ mean?
The U.S. National Center for Trauma-informed Care defines a trauma-informed approach as: "A program, organization, or system that is trauma-informed realizes the widespread impact of trauma and understands potential paths for recovery; recognizes the signs and symptoms of trauma in clients, families, staff and others involved with the system; responds by fully integrating knowledge about trauma into policies, procedures, and practices; and seeks to actively resist re-traumatization."

How is Calmer Choice trauma-informed?

We acknowledge that trauma exists in our classrooms and our communities.

We are trained in Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness (TSM).

TSM is how we hold space for students in a classroom.

In our programs, everything is offered as an invitation.

We provide suggestions for different ways of practicing.

We are clear in the limits of our role. We are not therapists.
