Calmer Choice seeks a Summer Intern to assist with Marketing, Communications and Development efforts. Candidates must be local or be willing to spend early June through late August on Cape Cod, MA. This is an opportunity to learn about the workings of a non-profit organization, grassroots events & marketing, event planning and fundraising.
The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic individual who prides themselves on being a “go-getter.” We are looking for an energetic, social media savvy individual who needs minimal supervision – enthusiasm, creativity and “out of the box” ideas will drive this person’s experience at Calmer Choice.
Excellent written and spoken communication (English)
Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment
Creative, flexible, organized and ability to prioritize
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Design skills a plus)
Exceptional social media skills, proficiency with programs and tools used to create compelling content and understanding of influencer/ambassador networking. MUST have working knowledge and use of Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, Canva, Meta Creator Studio, etc.
Outgoing personality – this role is outward facing, responsible for creating meaningful connections in our community
Interest in and practice of mindful awareness and/or other forms of personal wellness and/or interest in social-emotional learning
Creating organization’s third-party event program assets and support offerings for volunteers. Includes collaboration with organizational leadership, volunteer Development Committee, designers and vendors
Managing creation of summer event schedule with volunteer ambassadors and executing on-site presence at these events – includes cold-calling to local organizations, festivals, event organizers, etc. to secure Calmer Choice presence
Assisting with coordination and planning of Calmer Choice’s fundraising/friendraising and grassroots awareness events
Creating social media content calendar and executing creative posts while increasing Calmer Choice local & national awareness and social network
Assisting with the design of marketing collateral
Assisting with Development, Marketing and administrative tasks as needed
Staffing in-person events
The successful candidate will commit to interning for a minimum of 15hr/week for (ideally) three months minimum, primarily during business hours but with flexibility for evening/weekend hours as needed. Ideally, intern will start on June 1 and end close to September 1, 2022.
The position is unpaid, but we are happy to work with students for academic credit. We are flexible around schedules and school requirements. The internship entails close collaboration with Calmer Choice’s Board of Directors, staff and volunteers.
