Offerings from our 2022 Trainees

This year, we launched our first-ever training to support individuals in teaching and sharing mindfulness education outside of Calmer Choice. “Foundations of Teaching Mindfulness” was a 6-month intensive that brought 10 committed trainees into a shared learning space to cultivate the skills and capacities needed to offer mindfulness guidance to others. Trainees gained an understanding of the concrete scientific workings of mindfulness while practicing how to facilitate groups and hold shared space.

The capstone of this training invites each trainee to provide a free public offering in the form of a mindfulness course. Below you will find the details of the mindfulness offerings of our current cohort. We warmly encourage you to participate in their creative programming – we’re sure you, like us, will learn so much from them. Everyone is welcome and all programs are offered free of charge.

The content of each of these courses is delivered at the discretion of the trainees and may or may not reflect the evidence-based approach of Calmer Choice’s mindful awareness curriculum. That said, we acknowledge the richness that a diversity of thought and experience brings and hope you will enjoy each program.

Upcoming Trainee Mindfulness Programs

The Modalities of Mindfulness
Presented by Pete Cormier

This free virtual program is intended to introduce attendees to multiple

forms of mindfulness in four weekly sessions. Each session will include a teaching component (introduction to mindfulness, our restless mind, the body knows, mindfulness in daily life), as well as a related guided meditation sit, an opportunity for active engagement by attendees, and a period of voluntary sharing.

The sessions are scheduled for August 2,9, 16, and 23 from 6:30-7:30 pm. This is a virtual offering.

Self-Compassionate Mindfulness
Presented by Julie Bourque

This is a course for adults interested in bringing mindfulness and self-compassion into their daily lives. Participants will be given tools that can help support personal relationships as well as help them personally work with their own thoughts and emotions with kindness and compassion.
